Held this year from April 19th through the 30th, the Tribeca Film Festival in lower Manhattan is well worth attending at least once. Dedicated to helping filmmakers reach the broadest possible audience, the festival highlights both local and international artists. You’ll find a diverse selection of films and activities including talks and events, with celebrities ranging from Ethan Hawke and Jane Fonda to Lily Hamlin and Chris Rock headlining. While some events require purchasing tickets in advance, many are free to the public.

Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival
Sakura Matsuri offers over 60 events and performances that celebrate traditional and contemporary Japanese culture on April 29 and 30th. There’s also a Japanese tea room, an art gallery and a mini flea market hawking loot such as mouthwatering Raaka chocolates, wall scrolls and silk wraps. Get ready for a jam-packed schedule of entertainment, which includes Taiko drummers, cosplay actors, samurai sword masters, J-rock bands, stand-up comics and dance parties. There’s also food and drinks for sale.

TAP NY Craft Beer & Fine Food Festival
On April 29 and 30th, you can enjoy this incredible craft beer and food event at Hunter Mountain in the Northern Catskills. First held in Hyde Park 20 years ago by the Culinary Institute of America, TAP® New York showcases the best selections from area breweries. Whether you prefer lagers and IPAs or stouts and ales, you’re sure to find plenty on tap from over 120 craft breweries offering more than 300 beers. All of these great beers are complemented by cooking demonstrations and food galore. It offers a fun-filled day of indulgence – for adults only.

Held at the Rochester Institute of Technology on May 6th, there is no cover charge to attend this innovative event. The campus-wide festivities showcase the pioneering and creative spirit of students, faculty, and staff. Experience incredible interactive presentations, hands-on demonstrations, multiple exhibitions, and intensive research projects all around the campus. Multiple stages featuring live music and entertainment make this a popular event for all ages and interests.
Every May, Randalls Island becomeshe epicenter of the art world for four days thanks to Frieze New York, the art fair housed under a massive tent. The sixth edition of Frieze New York, happening May 5th through the 7th, brings together more than 200 galleries showing today’s most significant international artists – from emerging talents to seminal and rediscovered 20th-century masters. You will be able to view and buy art from more than 1,000 of today’s leading artists and experience a curated program of talks and site-specific artist commissions.

On Sunday, May 28th, the Herald of Victory Marathon is accompanied by an all-day music festival. With venues Downtown and on the West Side of Binghamton, New York, you’ll find music and events for every taste. There’s even a microbrewery festival and race after-party held within the Metrocenter Courtyard downtown. Whether you go to watch the racing or simply to enjoy the festival, you won’t regret experiencing this fun-filled event.
